Here’s a quilt I finished recently showcasing my first ever efforts at free motion quilting. I started the quilt top months ago when I picked up quilting again, and was inspired by a quilt I saw on flickr. I did a paisley/teardrop pattern I invented in the border, and tried out different designs on each block of the Hushabye fabric. I used different colors of thread to blend with each fabric, not realizing they’d show up funny on the solid pink back (duh). Next time I would just stick with pink. I used this faux piped binding tutorial from TLC Stitches, and was pretty happy with the result, except that I pressed the white fabric the wrong way so the piping was flat. Oops. It’s going to its new home with a a lovely little baby girl tomorrow!
